About Us
Nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains of Eastern Kentucky, Daniels Beefmasters breeds and raises sustainable, performance Beefmaster Cattle. Chris Daniels and 3 generations of his family bred and raised Beefmaster influenced commercial cattle for over 30 years prior to adding a herd of Purebred Beefmasters to the operation.
Our Cattle Philosophy
Our cattle philosophy is a testament to our unwavering commitment to quality, ethics, and sustainability. At the heart of our farm, we embrace a holistic approach that encompasses every facet of cattle rearing. With a deep-rooted respect for nature and a passion for raising healthy, contented animals, we’ve crafted a philosophy that yields not only exceptional beef but also a legacy of responsible stewardship.
We operate with a philosophy that there is always a better way and the belief in implementing cutting edge technology and practices with a vision and end goal of building THE PERFECT COW!
Guiding Principles
#1 Cull Based on the original 6 essentials of the Beefmaster breed. Disposition, Fertility, Weight, Conformation, Hardiness and Milk Production.
#2 Working to develop traits in seedstock animals that help the commercial cattleman in achieving and maintaining profitability. We believe the Beefmaster to be a superior animal but it needs some slight enhancements to meet the demands of markets within our region. Those include black hide, clean underlines, white faces and polled genetics.
#3 Carcass Merit. It is our mission to produce animals that perform and produce a carcass that will grade once harvested.
#4 Sustainability. It’s our philosophy that sustainability is achieved through feed efficiency. Lowering input cost through the use of advanced genetics and feed efficiency testing.
#5 Data. You can’t manage what you can’t measure. By using our purebred genetics in our own commercial herd and retaining ownership of feeder cattle through harvest we are able to make ongoing management decisions that continually improve our product.
#6 Commitment. Not chasing fads and extremes at the expense of sacrificing desirable traits that have always drawn us to the Beefmaster breed.
Ethical Stewardship
Our cattle philosophy begins with a fundamental principle: ethical stewardship. We recognize that our role goes beyond mere caretakers; we are guardians of life. Our animals are raised in an environment where their physical and emotional well-being is paramount. We provide them with ample space to roam, a natural diet to nourish, and a life free from unnecessary stress or discomfort.
Regenerative Practices
The land is our partner, and we treat it as such. Through regenerative practices, we strive to leave the earth better than we found it. By rotating pastures, employing cover crops, and promoting biodiversity, we revitalize the soil, enhance water retention, and foster a thriving ecosystem. This symbiotic relationship between our cattle and the land ensures sustainable growth and nourishment for all.
Nourishment and Natural Growth
Healthy cattle start with nourishment, and our philosophy centers on providing a balanced, natural diet. From lush pastures to carefully selected forages, we enable our animals to grow at their own pace, without artificial additives or shortcuts. This unhurried approach results in meat that’s not just flavorful but also a reflection of the animal’s well-being.
A Legacy of Excellence
In every aspect of our cattle philosophy, we strive for excellence. It’s not just about producing beef; it’s about upholding a legacy that honors nature, animals, and the intricate web of life. As you enjoy the fruits of our labor, you’re indulging in a journey that spans from pasture to plate, guided by principles that echo through generations. Our cattle philosophy is more than a way of doing; it’s a way of being—an embodiment of respect, responsibility, and a vision for a healthier, harmonious future.
